Staying in Spain

Overwintering is a stay of a few months in a warm country to escape the cold and wet winter of the Netherlands and Belgium.

The most common reasons for wintering in southern Spain are the fine climate on the Costa del Sol and the relaxed, healthy life. Health is also often a reason not to stay in the cold and wet.

In winter, pensioners and the over-50s leave for the Spanish Costa’s to spend the winter. Spain is very suitable for wintering because of its Mediterranean climate, beautiful scenery, friendly people and clean air. Overwintering in Spain on the Costa Blanca, especially Benidorm, the Costa Brava and the Costa del Sol in southern Spain is popular, but also the other areas of Spain, such as the Spanish islands of Ibiza, Mallorca, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are becoming increasingly popular.

Overwintering from November to March

From November, on the Spanish Costa’s, the season of winter visitors begins. In the winter one finds there mostly elderly people from the northern parts of Europe. After a walk along the promenade and through the center, coffee is enjoyed on a terrace. People watching is more fun than the zoo! Afternoon a short siesta or would you rather play another round of golf? And at the end of the day a nightcap in a bar. What more could a person want? A stay doesn’t have to cost a lot. If you set aside a sum of €1200 for everything together, and by that I mean an apartment with all expenses and living expenses, you will live like a king.
